Zimart

Zimart is represented by Fran Fearnley, curator of the Rice Lake Gallery, who travels to Zimbabwe annually to buy directly from artists there. These African Shona sculptures are carved and finished with hand tools and each is signed by its creator. Artists draw extensively for inspiration on traditional culture: mythology, folklore, rituals and beliefs in ancestral spirits. The stone used is unique to Zimbabwe in the range of colours and ores found in the rock.
