Jean James
Born and educated in England, of Welsh and Scottish descent, I have lived most of my life in Canada. Encouraged to paint and make simple prints as a child my Saturday mornings were spent drawing at the Warwickshire College of Art.
Largely self taught I have studied with local colleges and artists. More recently I painted for three winters in the studio of Keith Keller, in San Miguel d ‘Allende in Mexico and briefly at the Art Students League in New York. In 2002 and 2005 I painted for a month in the studio of Sylvester Pepperkamp and Leida Blom in Holland, and in 2004 at Can Serrat Art Centre near Barcellona. I am thrilled to have participated in the Florence Biennale in December 2005.
