Heidi den Hartog likes to explore both the possibilities and limitations of various media. Lately she has been fascinated by copper enamelling, but also creates mixed media works as well as sterling silver jewellery. Regardless of medium, her work is a reflection and commentary on her emotional and physical interaction with the world around us and the human condition. Heidi grew up in Deep River, Ontario, and was exposed to art at an early age through her mother’s oil paintings and batiks, and a family philosophy of what can be achieved through curiosity, experimentation and an open mind.
